October 5, 2009 meeting is being held at Thomas Lounge in Oakham House, 63 Gould St. (at Church), in Downtown Toronto.

Dinner Speaker and Topic:

Upon receipt of the donation of the Black Star Collection in 2005, Ryerson was charged with the responsibility of archiving valuable collection of images which describes the historical figures, world events and conflicts of the twentieth century.  How will Ryerson University preserve these important images, meanwhile showcasing them to local and global academics and artists?

Our dinner speaker is Jule Mycan, the Project Manager at Ryerson University who is leading the redesign and expansion of the existing Image Arts Building.  The renovation, designed by Toronto-based Diamond and Schmitt Architects and engineered by Crossey Engineering, will add 1,860 square metres of combined Public Gallery, Archival Space and Research Centre plus an additional 1,200 square metres of study, teaching and academic space.  Jule Mycan will explain how Ryerson is meeting the project management challenges of today and plans to achieve indoor environmental requirements of a Class A museum in the future.

Jule Mycan has been responsible for coordinating the delivery of over 600,000 SF of capital construction at Ryerson University within the past 9 years.  Jule’s project work includes Eric Palin Expansion, George Vari Engineering Building, Ted Rogers School of Management and her current project, the IMA Arts Photographic Gallery and Building Expansion.  She has a diverse professional background including the practice of urban design and landscape for approximately 10 years, work as an M&E technical coordinator for Trow Consulting Engineering and Capital Project Manager for the Region of Peel.  Jule sits on Canadian Standards Association Committees Z614 and B651 and is a member of the Project Management Institute.
