Seminar Topic

Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) System

Seminar will focus upon design considerations when applying variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems as a building’s HVAC system. We will look at the system’s benefits, key system application criteria, and pay close attention to CSA-B52 and its particular impact on VRF.

KEVIN FARBRIDGE, B.A.SC., P.ENG
Smith + Andersen Principal, Mechanical

 


Kevin graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1987 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He joined Smith + Andersen that same year, becoming a principal in 1995. Throughout his time at the firm, Kevin has engineered a wide variety of projects, but has mainly focused on specialized laboratories and universities. Some examples of his engineering work include: MaRS Discovery District, University of Guelph OVC Centre and Laboratory, Queen’s University Bioscience Complex, University of Toronto Lash Miller Research Lab (Davenport) Addition, Atmospheric Environmental Labs, University of Waterloo Centre for Environmental Science and Information Technology, and the Water Quality Research and Teaching Laboratories of Trent University. In addition to his work as a professional engineer, Kevin is a designated consulting engineer within the Province of Ontario and has been a board director for the Consulting Engineers of Ontario.
