Mission Critical Commissioning

John DeSousa and Craig Sievenpiper

What’s so different about Mission Critical Commissioning?  How do you commission live systems without bringing down the whole show? What are the challenges inherent in commissioning new build vs existing data centres?
John DeSousa and Craig Sievenpiper share some vital challenges from the high stakes world of commissioning live mission critical facilities, where downtime is not an option and ‘failure to communicate’ isn’t just a line from a movie but a potentially cataclysmic situation for the client.

Craig and John are both Principals in the Technology Division of HH Angus and Associates Limited Consulting Engineers.  HH Angus was established in 1919 and provides commissioning services as well as a full range of consulting engineering services to the building industry.  John and Craig’s recent and current commissioning projects include clients such as: IBM; several Royal Bank confidential data centres; and Telus’ first purpose built data centre in Canada, located in Rimouski, QC; Craig joined HH Angus in 1996 and John has been with the firm since 1999.
