NOTICE OF WEBINAR

Heating, Cooling and DHW using Combination Systems

ASHRAE Toronto invites you to join us for a webinar about developing your technical skills and becoming the best version of yourself.

Event Summary

Tankless water heaters (and boilers) are the most flexible appliances to deliver exceptional heating results in today’s homes. Consider: a forced air heating system with a maximum heat load of 25,000 btu/h is being designed for a new home. Which appliance would be most efficient at delivering that forced air heating, a 98% AFUE, 60MBH 2-stage furnace with a 1.4:1 turn down ratio OR a 95% AFUE 60MBH boiler with an 8:1 turn down ratio combined with a high efficiency air handler? If you said boiler with a high performance air handler, you would be 100% correct. In this session, we’ll explore the whys and hows of a combination system.

Highlights of what will be covered:

  • Relevant ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 124 (RA16)
  • Lack of advancement due to technology ‘silo’ing
  • Outperformance of combi-systems over Energy Star rated, 98% AFUE mod/con furnaces (Why & How?)
  • The extreme power of full modulation (gas burner, CFM and flow modulation)
  • Types of combi-systems (with tankless, boilers, combi-boilers, heat pumps, solar, etc.)
  • Installation of combi-systems
